Bichons are best! Beautiful fluff balls of love. No, you do not have to groom your Bichons like this at all. Just naturally they are curly but not kinky. They have hair not fur, do not shed and are as hypoallergenic as dogs can be. I get mine groomed every 6 weeks or so. Just like you'd get a haircut. They do great in pairs because most love company of other dogs. If you want a dog to go on a hike or catch a frisbee, this is NOT your dog. Take care to investigate what kind of dog is good for you. Just liking the way a dog looks should just be the beginning of your reseach.

Bichons are wonderful family pets.They love alot of attention and aim to please. We had 2 female bichons that were 6 months apart in age and they were wonderful companions for us and and each other. We had them groomed professionally but did not have the show dog look. Our dogs did not shed and were great for our son who had allergies. We lost Buffy at 14 1/2 years of age and Taffy at 16 1/2 years . We love this breed and would not hesiate to recommend Bichons to anyone thinking about getting a new member to their family.We miss them dearly.

We have a 4and 5 year old Bichons they are great dogs . Very loyal to all of us. I have a daycare in my home and they are great around the children. They do take some work on the grooming end . We love the show cut . Bijou and Daphne love to have their pictures taken and pose for it. Great dogs

My Bichon, Roxy, is 8 years old. She is my little precious. They really have super personalities and are great companions. The grooming can be a pain but they are worth it!

I absolutely positively ADORE my little ball of cottony fluff, otherwise known as a Bichon Frise, lol His name is Sir Ville Valo DuMousley, but we call him Ville. He is 4 years old, and don't tell him he's a dog, 'cos he thinks he's people, rofl. They ARE loyal, loving, affectionate ENERGETIC, and very, very, protective. I'm disabled, and my little guy seldom if ever leaves my side except to go out to do his business. With it being so snowy here in the Northeast right now, when he goes outside, we tend to lose him in the snow,hehehe j/k. He love to eat snowballs that you throw, and just charges full steam ahead into the drifts. As everyone else has stated, they CAN be a pain to groom, but it's all good at the end of the day, and he is worth a little aggravation over grooming. We LOVE our baby!

Both our BFs have gone camping & hiking with us over the years. Our current one, Angelina degli Capelli Bianchi (Angie of the white hair) just has to get into the 2 seater RUV with whoevever is driving - she loves it - the bumpier the better. Of course when there is only one of us, she gets seatbelted in. And, needless to say, she stays in a puppy cut - the better to brush the burrs out.....

I bought my first Bichon, Beau, in 1986. Followed by his mate, Borghese, in 1987. In the fall of 1988, after Borghese's second heat, we were presented with 5 PERFECT puppies. We kept the smallest, Chauncey, and were blessed beyond belief. This breed is sheer perfection. They are sweet, playful, affectionate, loyal and intelligent. You couldn't want for a better companion or family member. We groomed them, a Bichon cut, every 5-6 weeks. Brushed them daily. As it's been said MANY times, this breed NEEDS other dogs in the household to be truly content. They NEED the company. They are NOT meant to be alone -- NEVER!

I love my bichon so much! He is the best most loving little dog in the whole world!! He and my labrador are best of buddies and he is fantastic with my children too!
