One place you have to eat clam chowder is at the Sail loft on Atlantic ave in Boston's North End. It's to die for.

We recently visited Boston. I ate the clam chowder at the Union Oyster House and it was good. But better, by far, was the clam chowder at the Purple Shamrock. It's a little bar/eatery a couple of buildings up from UOH. It was surprisingly fantastic. Best I had in Boston over our four days there.

Chili(with spaghetti) in Cincinatti? I guess they can call it what they want. You need to go the the West and Southwest for real chili.

It should be fine to have a bowl of clam chowder. Basically doctors recommend pregnant women to limit certain types of seafood (instead of cutting it out completely), so one bowl of soup isn't going to hurt.

Homemade clam chowder is better to me, but canned chili is better...canned clam chowder is straight up nasty.
