Funny Street Signs: Hillybilly Lane

Sometimes it's tell when a small town has a good sense of humor. One great hint might be the names of streets all around town. And this seems to be the case with one West Virginia town.

Harper, W.V., is a community in Pendleton County located along U.S. Route 220. Most just pass through on their way somewhere else but a few people make their home in Harper. Something tells us that we'd really like these people, too.

West Virginia in general offers some beautiful sights and Harper is certainly no exception. With trickling streams and a fantastic small town coziness, this place has way more to offer than just a funny street sign. But it's probably the people who really make Harper a special place.

Street names are funny, but I got one up on ya, In Pennsylvania there are 2 towns next to each other on the southern border named, "Blue Balls", and the next town is called, " Intercourse". Can't beat that one. Look it up on the map if you doubt me, south-central Pennsylvania.

what about the street signs in lake jackson, texas? There are a lot of street signs there that is funny: his way, her way, this way, that way, anyway,,etc...

In Athens, PA there's a small private road just off Route 220 called "Lois Ln." and in Tioga County, PA I've come across "C and Y Ln."

Woodland,Ca has dead cat alley and dog gone alley. Amador City, Ca has maybe the best; Pig Turd Alley

How about Electric Ave. with a info sign (yellow diamond) below it stating "NO OUTLET" in Battle Creek, Mi.?

In between Cedartown Georgia and Rome you can find "Booger Hollow Rd" and "Booze Mtn"

Monticello, NY has two street signs that work well together at their corner:
"Pleasant" and "High"

Ft Wayne IN has all of these beat with Harry Baals Lane. The street sign has been stolen so many times that the street dept may have stopped replacing it. The street goes thru a park and is named after a fromer mayer.

In Abilene, TX, there is "Nonesuch Road". The reason for Nonesuch is that's what the residents got told frequently when requesting police or fire department back in the days before pavement and civilization in that area of town. There was "nonesuch" road on the map!
